As you know, Lewis the Lion had been travelling for a long time by the time he’d reached Australia. He’d stayed in hostels for most of the way, sharing dormitories with strangers and so he really relished the opportunity of staying in a normal bed, in a normal house but most importantly with his special friends in the heart of family life.

Being a lion who had always loved learning and who loved being around his friends at school, he felt that it was great to be around children again. After all he knew that children are the cleverest and the most fun people out there!

So, first of all he’d stayed with Helen’s relatives in Brisbane who had made him feel so welcome and so at home. Here he was reminded of a famous Australian called Rolf Harris who is an artist but who used to perform songs for children when looking for the song, ‘Never Smile at a Crocodile.’ Very appropriate being in Australia, Lewis the Lion thought! Consequently, when he next stayed with Helen’s friend Karen and her family in Melbourne, he had a great time watching ‘Jake the Peg’ a song about a man with an extra leg! They all laughed heartily at it especially when he counted his fingers and toes! Click here to see a You Tube video of it.

And then he’d stayed with Helen’s friend Jennifer near Perth where there were four children in the household! What a fun time he had there, especially when he went to see the koalas and the seaside.

He noticed that in one family house they had a poster expressing their family values which he thought was just wonderful.

Lewis the Lion then noticed a poster showing the family rules that the children, Caiomhe and Liam, had decided on and written themselves. He wondered how many other families had their family rules displayed in this way?
