Konkani (Indian language from Goa)

Each part of India has its own language and the taxi driver from Goa airport to Palolem was very keen to tell Lewis the Lion all about the Goan language: Konkani.

Although Indian it is influenced by Portuguese due to the Portuguese settlers.

Here are some of the key words that Lewis the Lion learnt:

Hello – kes-oh-ha!
Thank you – deo – boray – kuru
Please – masheroĆ£
Sandas – toilets
Bill – bill
Yes – oy!
No- na

He learnt that often this language is spelt with English letters and not script.
