Each part of India has its own language and the taxi driver from Goa airport to Palolem was very keen to tell Lewis the Lion all about the Goan language: Konkani.
Although Indian it is influenced by Portuguese due to the Portuguese settlers.
Here are some of the key words that Lewis the Lion learnt:
Hello – kes-oh-ha!
Thank you – deo – boray – kuru
Please – masheroĆ£
Sandas – toilets
Bill – bill
Yes – oy!
No- na
He learnt that often this language is spelt with English letters and not script.
