Lewis learns about growing your own food from two very clever children

Lewis the Lion was delighted to be able to visit one of Helen’s friends, Karen and her family whilst in Melbourne. Helen and Karen had both studied in France together a very long time ago, but to see them chatting away together, you would have thought that they had just seen each other yesterday! Lewis the Lion was understanding what his wise mother had told him now about there being neither time nor distance between love and friendship.

Karen and her husband, Andrew had two fantastic children who really looked out for Lewis the Lion: Caoimhe, who had just had her 9th birthday and Liam who was 6. In fact when Lewis the Lion clumsily forgot his neckerchief, Caoimhe and Liam kindly posted it onto him at one of his next stops in Perth and even designed the most fabulous card ever for him. You can see a photo of it here:

Lewis the Lion realised immediately what kind and caring children they are because Caoimhe wanted to take Lewis to her dancing school (and Lewis was so impressed to see what a talented dancer she is), and then Liam told Lewis the Lion all about their amazing school garden.

Lewis the Lion loved the thought of there being a school garden where the children get to plant the seeds, nurture the plants and then best of all, get to eat the produce at the end of it all! In their school garden planter boxes the pupils are growing fruits and vegetables like:

*Strawberries
*Lettuce
*Radishes
*Watermelon
*Zucchini (Courgettes)
*Capsicum (Peppers)
*and tomatoes.

They also have lemon, lime and orange trees and a wide variety of herbs too.
